In this week’s episode, I chat with bass player Taylor Shuck and banjo player Aaron McCloskey from the energetic and refreshing Newgrass/Grassicana band Wood Belly. Wood Belly released a new album at the beginning of 2020, and we discussed the bands navigation of the pandemic.
In this week’s episode, I speak with Taylor Shuck and Aaron McCloskey, two pieces of the quintet Wood Belly. Wood Belly began playing together in 2015. They recorded their first full-length album, “Solid Ground,” in 2018. They won the Telluride Bluegrass Bland Competition in the same year, and also were nominated for the 2018 IBMA Momentum Band of the Year. In 2019, they released the EP November, and in 2020 they released, “Man on the Radio.” They have made a change at guitar during the pandemic and have plans to move forward with some new material as they make their way back into a post pandemic scene. We learn about the chaos theory behind Taylor’s “Shuckwagon,” and Aaron gives us a little insight on his hand crafter McClostone Amps. Please join me for my enjoyable conversation with Mr. Taylor Shuck and Mr. Aaron McCloskey.
